** Swim Team Registration opens April 1, 2025 **

2025 SWIM SEASON- GRPA DISTRICT 5

Cobias Swim Team (The Cobias) is a competitive swim team, intended for those who at a minimum know the basic swimming strokes. Participation involves a major commitment from the swimmer as well as the parents. Practice is four times per week with the season beginning in May and ending with the state swim meet for qualifiers in July. Tryouts are not required for previous swim team members.

Registration for the Team: April 1st-May 5th
  • Ages: 6-18
  • Age Control Date: Age on May 31, 2025
  • Registration Dates: April 1-May 5, 2025
  • Registration Fee for City Residents: Ages 6u and 8u: $120; ages 10u and up: $140
  • Registration Fee for Non-City Residents:Ages 6u and 8u: $140; ages 10u and up: $160
  • Registration Fee includes: Team t-shirt and Team swim cap.
  • Registration Fee does not include travel expenses, swimsuit & equipment fees, district entry fees, or state entry fees.
  • Last Day for Refunds: Friday, May 10, 2025 The

TRYOUT DATES:
  • Tryout Dates will be offered on April 12th at the Senior Aquatic Center 12:30-3:30pm. Additional Dates will be posted as needed.
  • To register you must call the Senior Aquatic Center at (678) 721-5470 to secure a session with a Water Safety Instructor or Coach.
  • Tryouts will be offered in 15-minute intervals in lanes A,B,C from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at the Senior Aquatic Center at Sam Smith Park.
  • Walk Ups will be allowed on listed tryout dates but reservations will take priority. Walk ups will be administered on a first come first serve basis.

SWIM TEAM SPRING TUNE UP CLINICS:
  • Participants must be registered as members of the Summer Swim Team prior to enrollment.
  • Registration for clinics will open on April 22nd through May 30th,
Clinic Dates:
Improving Endurance
Participants will be led through multiple land and water activities to help improve their overall swim conditioning. 
  • Friday, May 9, 6:30pm -7:30pm, Dellinger Park Pool
  • Maximum: 30 swimmers
Starts and Dives/ Flip Turns
Participants will work on improving their starts and dives from the side of the pool and the swim platforms. Participants will work with coaches in the water to master efficient approaches and flip-turns through various drills and different swim strokes
  • Friday, May 16, 6:30pm-7:30pm, Dellinger Park Pool
  • Maximum: 30 swimmers
Butterfly and Backstroke
Participants will work with coaches in the water to master dynamics of stroke mechanics for butterfly and backstroke.
  • Friday, May 23, 6:30pm-7:30pm, Dellinger Park Pool
  • Maximum: 30 swimmers
Breaststroke and Freestyle
Participants will work with coaches in the water to master dynamics of stroke mechanics for breaststroke and freestyle.
  • Friday, May 30, 6:30pm-7:30pm, Dellinger Park Pool
  • Maximum: 30 swimmers
Practices:
  • Practice begins: May 7th
  • Parent Meeting: April 26th and May 3rd
  • Location:Dellinger Park Pool Deck @ 5:30pm(Inclement Weather Location: Dellinger Park Conference Room)
  • 6–11-year-olds: Evening Practices start at 5:30pm to 6:30pm
  • 12–18-year-olds: Evening Practices start at 6:45pm to 7:45pm
Meets:
4 meets, GRPA Regionals & GRPA State meet (for qualifiers)

Banquet:
Swim Banquet at Dellinger Pool for awards and celebrate a great season!
