Aquatics: Swim Lessons: Adult: 2024 • Register • View Cart •

The American Red Cross has developed swim lessons for adults that allow the opportunity to learn in a safe environment, at their own pace. Learn-to-Swim classes are taught by certified and knowledgeable instructors who can help swimmers at every level feel comfortable in the water and progress to the next level. Note: pool depth 3 1/2" to 5".

Ages: 18 and over                                                                                                 
Age Control Date: Age prior to the first meeting date          
Registration Fee: $40 
Class Size: 4 maximum
Class Location: Senior Aquatics Center, 1155 Douthit Ferry Road, Cartersville GA  30120 
Learning the Basics: Will work to earn basic swimming strokes and skills needed to become water competent, which combines knowing water safety, having swimming skills, and knowing how to help others in a water emergency.
Registration Begins: Monday, May 6, and ends when the session is full or Thursday before the session begins whichever comes first.
  • Session 1: January: Monday and Wednesday, January 22, 24, 29, and 31; Time: 7:00-7:45pm
  • Session 2: March: Monday and Wednesday, March 4, 6, 11, and 13; Time: 7:00-7:45pm
  • Session 4: June: Monday and Wednesday, June 3, 5, 10, and 12; Time: 7:00-7:45pm
  • Session 5: June: Monday and Wednesday, June 17, 19, 24, and 26; Time: 7:00-7:45pm
Registration Begins: Monday, August 12, and ends when the session is full or Thursday before the session begins whichever comes first.
  • Session 7: September: Monday and Wednesday, September 9, 11, 16, and 18; Time: 7:00-7:45pm
  • Session 8: November: Monday and Wednesday, November 4, 6, 13, and 18; Time: 7:00-7:45pm (no class Monday, November 11 due to Veterans' Day)
Improving Strokes and Swimming Skills: Participants will work to gain proficiency in basic aquatic skills and the six basic swimming strokes.
Registration Begins: Monday, May 6, and ends when the session is full or Thursday before the session begins whichever comes first.
  • Session 3: March: Monday and Wednesday, March 18, 20, 25, and 27; Time: 7:00-7:45pm
  • Session 6: August: Monday and Wednesday, August 5, 7, 12, and 14; Time: 7:00-7:45pm
Refunds:  A $25.00 administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds. No refunds will be given after the class begins and must be approved by the Cartersville Parks & Recreation Director.
